We’re all familiar with a Long Island Iced Tea. This classic cocktail, contrary to what the name would have you believe, contains NO REAL TEA! Really, the “LIIT” is an all-around rule breaker. Aside from the misleading name, it defies (or proves?) the “mixing alcohols causes a hangover” myth, and confounds bartenders everywhere. Depending on where you go, a Long Island iced tea may or may not contain lemon juice, simple syrup, sour mix, Coke/cola, or other juices. So like many classic drinks, there are tons of variations. We think ours is the best, especially considering it really is a tea!
For this recipe, you could use any black tea you like – room for even more variations! We particularly like it with Kumaon black, but you could also try English Breakfast, or even a green or herbal blend!
