Every hangout is via video chat these days, but that doesn’t mean it has to get boring. Get as casual or as fancy as you want and throw a Zoom tea party with friends! For ideas on what kind of party to throw, check out our blog post on the best types of parties.
Preparing for your party:
- Choose a theme for your zoom tea party. Should it be fancy? Should it be afternoon? Will there be snacks?
- Create fun virtual invitations that you can email to friends! Canva or Pinterest both have great templates to choose from.
- Make sure your invitations include a link to your virtual event (Zoom link, GoogleHangout room, etc.)
- Let your guests know what kind of tea they should prepare in advance or let them choose their favorite. Depending on your budget, consider sending your guests tea in advance, so you can all share (or even review) a blend together!
- If you want a light menu, let them know to get their snacks in advance too! If you’re feeling really fancy, you could even create a simple menu to send out with recipes, so you can all enjoy a meal together.
Hosting the party:
- Consider having games or activities prepared for guests! These could include virtual games, printable activities, or DIYs you can do together!
- You could create a Jeopardy Game or have trivia questions prepared.
- Ice breaker games are always a hit.
- Even if you’re best friends, consider asking each other some “silly” questions. You might just be surprised how much you didn’t know before!
- You could even do a beauty treatment together, like this matcha facial, or black tea steam!
- Consider making this a tradition, whether you meet weekly and discuss a book (who says you can’t combine tea time and book club?) or every couple months just to check in!
Quarantining is hard, but it’s certainly not a reason you have to miss out on tea with friends. Virtual tea can be just as much fun, even if you have to be a little more creative, and allows you to enjoy tea with friends anytime, from anywhere, and even on a budget!
