Black Green and Grey, a fruity floral bourbon tea cocktail

Black, Green and Grey – A Blackberry Bourbon Tea Cocktail

Summer is in full swing in Chicago, and so is berry picking! In the spirit of the season, we created this luscious blackberry bourbon tea cocktail infused with Green Earl Grey, our green tea and bergamot blend inspired by traditional Earl Grey. This cocktail is fruity, floral, and with just a hint of warmth from the bourbon. Perfect for sipping on a late summer evening or enjoying around a bonfire as fall sets in.

Black, Green, and Grey

This fruity and floral cocktail combines sweet blackberries with our Green Earl Grey.

  • 1½ oz bourbon
  • 1½ oz chilled Green Earl Grey
  • ½ oz shot simple syrup
  • 1 blackberry
  • Blackberry and a sprig of rosemary (to garnish)
  1. Muddle blackberry with simple syrup.
  2. Add bourbon, Earl Grey tea, and ice. Stir until very cold.
  3. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a glass.
  4. Garnish with a blackberry and a sprig of rosemary.

(If you want to be fancy, poke the sprig into the blackberry and lay across the top of your glass.)

This recipe is also the perfect easy cocktail to try using flavored simple syrups! Don’t bother with the store bought stuff, simple syrup is so easy to make and flavor at home! We’d recommend starting with a Green Earl Grey syrup to punch up the earl grey flavor, and super easy since you’re already brewing this blend! Once you’ve mastered simple syrups, this drink tastes amazing with an extra boost of rosemary, bergamot, or lavender – all make great simple syrups. Make a batch and store the extra in a jar in your fridge for easier, more exciting drinks anytime!
