When you hear tea and tanning in the same sentence you probably think “sipping tea while laying in the sun?” Nope! For a surprisingly natural looking tan, brew strong black tea and apply it to your skin via a spray bottle for temporary color. You can also add it to a bath and soak if you’d like. Rainy days can’t rain on your tanning technique anymore, just try tanning with tea! Bonus: this tanning spray keeps for up to 7 days!
Ingredients
- 6 tbs. black tea – we recommend English Breakfast for the most economical spray.
- 4 cups water
- Spray bottle
Directions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
- Remove from heat and add tea in a tea ball or infuser.
- Let steep for 30 minutes and discard bags.
- Let water cool completely and pour into spray bottle.
- Apply tanning spray to skin as desired. Be sure to spray evenly. (You can create a darker color by spraying skin and letting it dry, then spraying again.)
- Store tea in the refrigerator.
Pro tip: Not only can this tanning spray leave you looking tan, but it can also soothe the sting of a sunburn when tanning in the sun goes wrong! Apply straight from the fridge for the most soothing effect.
